- Termination - Reabsorption/inactivation of ligand
- Regulation - by voltage
States:
- Basal State - without neurotransmitter
- Activation by neutrotransmiter binding
- Activated State - binding opening the gate
- Neurotransmitter can dissociated returning to basal state
- Neutrotransmitter can remain
- Inactivated State - neurotransmitter bound but channel closes
- Eventual neurotransmitter release returning to basal state
