PIP2

Signal Transduction

Phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2)

Function/Purpose:

  • Substrate that is hydrolyzed by Phospholipase C (PLC) into IP3 and DAG

Salient Enzymes:

  • Phospholipase C (PLC) hydrolyces PIP2
  • Phosphoinositide 3-Kinase phosphorylates it into PIP3
    • INC GLC transporter on cell surface
