Glycolysis Regulation

Glucose, Glycolysis

1)(GLC) into (G6P) - Hexokinase

  • Glucose into Glucose 6-phosphate
Negative Effectors - anabolism of GLC or breakdown of glycogen
  • G6P

2)(G6P) into (F1,6BP) - Phosphofructokinase (PFK)

  • Fructose 6-phosphate into Fructose 1,6-bisphosphate
Negative Effectors - intermediates for TCA are high = energy rich
  • ATP
  • Citrate
Positive Effectors - intermediates for TCA are low = energy poor
  • ADP
  • AMP

3)PEP into Pyruvate - Pyruvate Kinase

  • Phosphoenolpyruvate into Pyruvic Acid
Negative Effectors - pyruvate concetrations are high
  • ATP
  • F6P
