  • GLC + 2Pi + 2ADP + 2H --> 2Ethanol + 2CO2 + 2ATP + 2H2O
    • From glycolysis to ethanol fermentation
  • Pyruvate decarboxylation into Acetylaldehyde
  • Acetaldehyde into Ethanol

Steps

  • Pyruvate + H -(Pyruvate Decarboxylase)-> Acetylaldehyde + CO2 - Pyruvate Decarboxyase
  • Acetylaldehyde + NADH <-(Alcohol Dehydrogenase)-> Ethanol + NAD + H - Alcohol Dehydrogenase
    • NADH produced in GAP is consumed in the reduction of Acetaldehyde --> Ethanol
