• Erythro: similar groups on the same side
  • Entegen or Antimark versions of tetraaldose
• Threo: similar groups on the opposite side
  • Zutsamen or Mark versions of tetraldose
• Used ONLY with molecues that do not have symmetric ends (meso or d/l/-/+)
